Profeta Farms

Humane Treatment of Livestock

We take very seriously the manner with which we treat our livestock; the humane treatment of animals is important to all who work on our farm. Our animals spend their entire lives either outside on pasture in the warmer months or protected in open barns and hoop houses during the coldest months. Wherever they are, they have plenty of space to move around and express their natural behaviors.

Our cattle are fed nothing but high-quality organic grasses (fresh from the field during the warmer months and dried as hay in the winter), all of which we grow ourselves here in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Our pigs and chickens are fed a blend of organic grains, supplemented by what they forage in the fields and woods on our property. None of our animals receive GMO feed, hormones, or antibiotics – ever.

While we do not have a processing facility on-site, we make sure that the facilities we use are clean, efficient, and treat our animals with the respect they deserve, including the mobile processing service we bring to the farm for our chicken.

Through the responsible raising of livestock, we aim to provide animal products to our community that people can feel good about purchasing and provide an alternative to the conventional meat industry that for the most part stocks our nation’s supermarket shelves.
